Cart Line Messages

The Right Message at the Right Moment

Put a short message right under any product in the cart. Line messages show up while shoppers are reviewing their order and deciding whether to check out, which is exactly when a nudge lands best.

Attached to the product, not the cart

Attached to the Product, Not the Cart

Unlike announcement bars or cart-level messaging, line messages sit directly beneath the specific product that triggered them. Shoppers see the message next to the item it's about, so it's relevant and hard to miss.

Message appears below the line item inside the cart drawer
Each product can display its own message based on campaign rules
Multiple campaigns can attach messages to the same product at the same time
Supports any HTML content, including styled text, links, icons, and emojis

What to Use It For

Use line messages to reassure, cross-sell, or set expectations. Whatever the message, it reaches shoppers at the moment they're deciding whether to buy.

Highlight product benefits: a key stat or guarantee right before checkout
Promote offers: call out a limited-time deal tied to a specific product
Cross-sell related products: nudge customers to add a matching item with a direct link
Communicate purchase limits: show quantity caps or stock warnings on affected products

Campaign-Powered Targeting

Line messages are campaigns, so they inherit CornerCart's full targeting and scheduling system. Messages are tied to the product that triggers them, not applied globally to every cart.

A message only appears when its trigger product is in the cart
Layer on customer tags, login status, Shopify market, or cart conditions
Schedule messages to run during specific date ranges
Run multiple line message campaigns simultaneously across different products
Features

Everything you need to add context to every cart item

Highlight Product Benefits

Reinforce why a product belongs in the cart right before checkout.

Put a key stat, a guarantee, or a quality signal right next to the item, at the point where shoppers want reassurance.

"94% of customers reorder this within 60 days"
"100-day returns, no questions asked"
Any HTML content, including icons, links, and styled text

Showcase Promotions

Call out a time-sensitive offer tied to that specific product.

Like a bundle discount, a seasonal deal, or a limited-time price break. The message sits right next to the item it applies to, making it impossible to miss.

Product-specific promotional messaging
Schedule to run only during the promotion period
Supports full HTML, including links and styled text

Cross-Sell Complementary Products

Nudge customers to add a related product with a direct link or incentive.

Show "Add the matching serum for 20% off" next to the moisturizer already in their cart. The context does most of the selling for you.

Message appears next to the trigger product in the cart
Include a direct link to the complementary product
Target only customers who have the relevant product in cart

Communicate Purchase Limits

Display quantity caps or urgency cues directly on the affected product.

During flash sales or low-stock events, show "Limit 2 per order" or "Only a few left" right next to the item instead of buried in a generic cart banner.

Product-specific urgency and limit messaging
Schedule to activate only during sale or low-stock periods
Target all shoppers or specific customer segments

Campaign-Powered Targeting

Messages are tied to the product that triggers them, not applied globally.

Line messages inherit CornerCart's full targeting and scheduling system. Layer on additional conditions to reach the right shoppers at the right time.

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about cart line messages.

Where does the message appear?

Directly below the line item inside the cart drawer. It's rendered in context with the product it's about, not as a separate cart-level banner.

What kind of content can I put in a line message?

Line messages support HTML, including styled text, inline links, icons, and emojis. You have full control over how the message looks alongside the product.

Which products show a message?

Only products that match the campaign's trigger conditions. If a campaign is set up for a specific product, the message appears only when that product is in the cart.

Can the same product show more than one message?

Yes. Multiple line message campaigns can target the same product and will stack one below the other.

Can messages include dynamic cart data, like "add $X more for free shipping"?

Not currently. Line messages are static HTML content. For dynamic threshold messaging, use the progress bar feature instead.

Can I target line messages to specific customers?

Yes. Since line messages are campaigns, you can layer additional targeting on top of the product trigger, including customer tag (if logged in), Shopify market, or other cart conditions.
